Vaccination Appointment Mobile app
Case Study
This case study is a personal project aimed at solving the problem of the covid-19 vaccination program in Sri Lanka.
Problem Statement
It's a tough period. Everyone is impacted by the covid-19 outbreak. As a solution to the Covid-19 outbreak, the government health sector started vaccination programs in different locations in Sri Lanka. Many people begin to be vaccinated. However, they had to stand in long queues, and in the beginning phases of vaccination, centers issued a limited number of vaccines to the citizens. People had to return back several times to get vaccinated. Another challenge for the government is to maintain social distance while continuing the vaccination program without infecting others. People began to complain about this.
Goal
- To design end-to-end flow covering the experience from the moment of awareness to get vaccines properly.
- Help people schedule vaccine appointments using the appointment system.
- to assist them in properly tracking and receiving vaccination doses, as well as keeping records to solve people's frustrations and problems, and assist them in vaccinating themselves
Solution Proposal
This concept is to provide a simple yet integrated mobile application for booking vaccine doses from the nearest vaccination center, keeping vaccination certificates, and staying up to date on upcoming doses.
Design Process
I decided to use the design thinking method in this design work, which consists of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
My role
I was primarily in charge of this project from start to finish. After determining the user flow and IA, I moved on to user understanding, empathy, and research. I designed the last mockups after finalizing the flow and IA.
Research
Through the research, I primarily focus on the user problems. I explored the issues encountered by users during the vaccination program. and I gleaned some information from social media and news platforms.
Proto persona
Due to the short time frame, I decided to create proto personas to outline the user's goals and pain points. A proto-persona is a description of the target users and audience of a product based on the assumptions of stakeholders.
I made simple adjustments to the persona. That is, I attempted to create a persona for the general public. Then I decided to separate the segments and refer to various age groups. It assists me in identifying and developing assumptions from various perspectives.
Empathy Map
As a first step of the design thinking process, empathizing is the most important thing. Empathy allows us to put ourselves in the shoes of others and connect with how they may be feeling about their problem, circumstance, or situation.
Identified Pain points
- Don’t know when is the exact date and place to get vaccinated.
- Due to the Curfew and lockdown, unable to travel and find the centers.
- The elderly can't stay in the long queues. they need to find a quick way.
- Some of them need to report to the job every day. but hard to allocate time for this.
- The virus spreads quickly, and they worry about their family's health.
- They need to keep and protect vaccine certificates for future work.
User Journey map
As the next step in my process, I decided to create a user journey map to outline the user flow.
User Flow Diagram
After deciding which features to prioritize and include, I created a user flow to show the overall content structure of the app and the flow of the main navigation, which speeds up the design process.
Sketches
I sketched out my initial thoughts and ideas digitally based on the essential features I come up with based on research insights and created assumptions.
Screen designs and Prototype
Using the sketches as a reference, I come up with final visual designs for the application.
Prototype
Conclusion
Since this is a self-initiated & conceptual project, I couldn’t measure the actual impact of this product. However, I conduct an unguided usability testing for this prototype and published the prototype on Social media. throughout the feedback for the concept is, mobile app has had a positive impact on users.
It has been an amazing learning experience designing my first vaccination app and preparing this case study.
