A designer who codes
I'm a product designer who started in front-end development, so I think in systems and constraints as much as in layouts. I don't stop at polished Figma frames I care about how an experience actually gets built, shipped, and used. That hybrid background lets me move fluidly between design thinking, technical feasibility, and real product outcomes.
Today I work at the intersection of design strategy, usability, accessibility, and AI-augmented workflows turning ambiguous problems into practical digital experiences that hold up in production.
Work Experience
I began my professional journey in 2018 and gained experience across both design and frontend development. Over the years, I have worked with multiple companies including Cloud Solutions International, Virtusa, Blooming Brands, CodeGen, and Qlub.
My career has included roles such as UI Engineer, UI/UX Engineer, Senior UI/UX Designer, and Associate UX Lead. Through these roles, I contributed to accessibility focused projects, digital product experiences, and enterprise level solutions, including work connected to brands and products such as Costco, TravelBox, Versine Media, and British Communications.
My early career combined frontend development with design execution, but over time I fully transitioned into design leadership and user experience strategy. Today, I bring a hybrid skill set that combines design thinking, technical understanding, project ownership, and AI-powered workflows.
Two pieces of that work are written up in more detail: the qlub product and platform work, and building an agentic design system.
Key Milestones
- Founded the UI/UX Designers Sri Lanka community (2018) solving a real gap in the local design industry, now grown to nearly 12,000 members.
Community & Leadership
One of the most meaningful milestones in my journey was building the UI/UX Designers Sri Lanka community to help fill a gap in the local design industry. That was one of the first major problems I identified and solved outside of client work, and it reinforced my belief that design is about impact, not decoration.
Today, I focus on delivering workable solutions, not just polished Figma frames. I believe the best design connects strategy, usability, accessibility, technology, and business value into one meaningful experience.
